Steam ageing

Rubber materials may behave differently in steam (water vapour) than in hot-air (oxygen environment). The steam autoclave can heat water up to 125°C for a specific period, after which the changes in material properties like hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break, stiffness and possibly steel-cord adhesion can be determined. The steam autoclave can also be used as a steriliser.

The test is carried out according to an inhouse test method unless otherwise desired.
